JamBowl Raises Record $11K

The student-run JamBowl, which began 12 years ago as a bar mitzvah project for Jake Seltman and Max Van Dresser, set a record for the annual event by raising more than $11,000 for the Brookhaven Boys & Girls Club on April 17.

JamBowl was a day of sporting events. The participants included boys from the Boys & Girls Club, as well as friends and supporters of the organizers. All received prizes.

At the end of the event, three big donated prizes were raffled off: a signed Matt Ryan jersey; a guitar signed by all of the Zach Brown Band members; and Braves tickets.

This year’s JamBowl was organized by teenagers Jacob Cohen, David Cooper, Tristan Hulsebos, Michael Simon, and Max, Madi and Jake Kamean, all of whom raised money by soliciting sponsorships and donations. The proceeds support after-school programs that offer kids a safe, supervised environment with educational and structured sports and other activities.

Donations are still being accepted at bgcma.convio.net/goto/brookhavenjambowl.
