Video: Goza Goes to Shul

Andre Xcellence turns "Hava Nagila" into the hip-hop "Hava Tequila" in true Jewish Atlanta setting.

Goza Tequila has deep ties in Jewish Atlanta, starting with founder and CEO Jacob Gluck and co-founder and Creative Director Adam Hirsch, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that an Atlanta-shot hip-hop video called “Hava Tequila” would highlight Goza amid simchas.

Nor is it surprising to see some of Atlanta’s familiar Jewish faces — Beth Gluck, JNF‘s executive director for greater Atlanta as well as the mother of the Goza CEO, is one who is hard to miss — participating in scenes representing wedding and b’nai mitzvah celebrations.

But the setting for Andre Xcellence‘s “Hava Tequila” video might be the most familiar sight of all: Congregation Beth Tefillah.

Seeing Andre Xcellence rapping in front of the ark should bring you a smile no matter how rough a day you’re having — as long as you don’t get in trouble for watching a rap video promoting tequila at work.

Hirsch, a filmmaker known for documentaries such as “The Cake Lady” and “Schube Strong” and a member of the AJT’s 2017 40 Under 40, shot the video, although we’re told that Goza is not officially associated with or promoting it.

As of this writing (midday Wednesday, May 9) the video is approaching 34,000 views on YouTube since being posted May 4.
