Obituary: Rose Libowsky Klein

Rose Libowsky Klein, age 94, died on July 19, 2015.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years, Eugene Klein.  Rose was a native of Atlanta,  (moving to New York for 15 years, Candle Flamethen returning) attending Girls High School.  Rose was a seasoned volunteer with experience working as a Gray Lady with the Red Cross, Young Judea Clubs, Congregation B’nai Torah, Congregation Shearith Israel, NCJW’s Bargainata, B’nai Brith’s Pinch Hitters,  and the Jewish Welfare Agency, just to name a few.  Joining The Jewish Federation in 1958 as a volunteer soon turned into a full time career spanning 50 years of service (1958-2008).  She has said that a few of the highlights of her career included meeting Golda Meir and Moshe Dayan.  Without a doubt, Rose was the longest serving Jewish community professional in the Atlanta area.  Her work, her diligence and her commitment to the Jewish community were an inspiration to all who knew her. Rose is survived by her children:  Rochelle Herrick of Orlando, Fla., Maxine and Malcolm Jacobs of Columbia, MD, Hershene and Joel Borrin of Dunwoody, GA., Harley and Lori Klein of Austell, GA, Jody Klein of Sandy Springs GA,   grandchildren: Phyllis Rothenberg and Howard Rothenberg of Charlotte, NC, Marc and Linda Jacobs of Augusta, GA, Elisha and Bruce Anderson of  Eustis, FL, Danielle and David Hertz of New York, NY,  great- grandchildren:  Chloe and Maggie Rothenberg, Taylor Anderson, many nieces and nephews,  her devoted caregiver, Nicole Sinclair,  and the caring staff of the Carlton.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rose’s memory to Congregation B’nai Torah, Sandy Springs, GA; Congregation Shearith Israel, Atlanta, GA or Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta.
