Herbert A. Maier, beloved husband of Rella, nee Sklut. Loving father of Peter (Christy) Maier and Paula (Bennet) Alsher. Adored Papa of Lora, Rachel (Ben Martin), Hannah (Danny Sirdofsky), and Jacob. Born in Karlsbad, Czechoslovakia, he escaped the Nazis and died just short of his 93rd birthday. Herbie Maier exemplified what it means to be a husband, father, and grandfather. He lived a rich and full life, and he has left behind a legacy of memories for those who knew him to treasure. Graveside services were held in Chicago. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the charity of your choice.
