SPECIAL FOR THE AJT //

Halle Friedman, a swimmer for the Marietta Marlins and Walton High School, returned earlier this month from Israel where she competed for the U.S. Team in the 19th World Maccabiah Games.

This special sports competition is held every four years; a record 9,000 athletes from 78 countries took part in the games.

Halle was one of 12 females selected to represent the U.S.  One of her teammates, Garrett Weber-Gale, an Olympic gold medalist, was a member of the U.S. relay team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

At the Maccabiah Games, Halle received a silver medal for the 400-medley relay where she swam the butterfly portion of the race.  She also was a finalist in the 200 free, 800 free and 400 IM.

Being able to spend nearly a month with outstanding swimmers from around the country and representing the United States on this international stage will be an unforgettable experience for Halle.
