Fixed Roof Complete at Mercedes-Benz Stadium

The fixed roof at Mercedes-Benz Stadium was completed Oct. 19 with a ceremonial signing of one of the final steel beams.

The ceremony signified the completion of the stadium’s complex fixed roof structure, which is made up of 36 million pounds of steel.

Workers have been erecting the steel over the last several months. With the work complete, the stadium will now focus on pre-casting of the lower bowl, finishing of the Fan Plaza, installation of the 91,000 square feet of LED video boards and installation of the 8-petal, mechanized portion of the roof.

Back in August, Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United Owner Arthur Blank, speaking at an Atlanta Press Club luncheon, said Mercedes-Benz Stadium is still scheduled for a June opening.
