18 Under 18 Honoree: Evan Sommer

Jewish Atlanta 2020's 18 Under 18 Honoree: Evan Sommer, 16, Walton High School

Evan is an exceptional athlete, a top student, and a leader within the Jewish community. He was a leader of his club NASA soccer team and helped to bring his Maccabi soccer team to medal in 2019. Evan volunteers with children who have physical and mental disabilities through NASA’s TOPSoccer Program, in line with his Jewish values. An example of hard work and effort, Evan is committed to Jewish studies. In third grade, his Hebrew school teacher at Congregation Etz Chaim recognized his love of Torah and Judaism and asked Evan to read Torah in front of the congregation. He has been reading Torah ever since.
