Sylvia L. Weissman, 89, of Atlanta, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2014, surrounded by her loving family: her husband of 72 years, Sam Weissman; her sons, Norman (Mary Rita), and Harold; and her daughter, Arlene (Ronnie, of blessed memory). She was born in NYC and at the age of 17, moved to Atlanta, where she met and married Sam. Sylvia was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Mildred Turetsky, and is survived by her husband, her daughter, two sons, one daughter-in-law, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She and Sam were generous supporters of the Jewish Federation, the Jewish National Fund, and the AA Synagogue for decades. She was a lifelong member of ORT, Hadassah, and Synagogue Sisterhood. Sylvia has left behind a lifetime of memories of her loving and caring for her family, and of her vivacious and joyful intersection with all who knew her.
