Obituary: Howard Vandroff

Howard Vandroff of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, formerly of Lakeland, FL, passed away on March 19, 2016.

He was born on May 5, 1934, son of Dorothy and Harry Vandroff. He graduated from Lakeland Senior High School and then went on to the University of Florida, where he was a member of Pi Lambda Phi fraternity and received a BA degree.

He then attended Naval Officer Candidate School and served as gunnery officer on the USS Neosho. He retired from the Navy Reserves with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Howard was the owner and President of Yarnall Warehouse and Transfer in Lakeland, Florida. He sold his business and retired in 1989.

After retirement, Howard and his wife Arlene moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Howard is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene Gamce Vandroff, whom he married in May of 1966; his son, Mark (Jennifer); his daughter, Debbie (Doug); and his three granddaughters, Brooke, Carly and Vivian. Funeral services were held March 21st at Ponte Vedra Valley Funeral Home.
