Jewish Atlanta’s Collective Celebration
Five major nonprofit organizations are combining to help the community celebrate itself and its members.
Jewish Atlanta will have the chance to celebrate some of its most important nonprofit organizations and individuals at a new event Wednesday, Aug. 30: The Collective.
Organized by the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, the event not only brings together Federation, the Marcus Jewish Community Center, Jewish Family & Career Services, Jewish Home Life Communities and the Atlanta Rabbinical Association, but also sets a low barrier for entry with ticket prices of $10 in advance, $18 at the door.
“It’s a great moment in Jewish Atlanta, and we want to celebrate, come together, share what we are all excited about and have some fun,” Federation CEO and President Eric Robbins said.
The chief executives of the five organizations — Robbins, the Marcus JCC’s Jared Powers, JF&CS’ Rick Aranson, JHLC’s Harley Tabak and the ARA’s Rabbi Peter Berg — will hold a panel discussion on community, and improv group Dad’s Garage will entertain.
“JF&CS recognizes that we can do more for our community by partnering with other organizations,” Aranson said. “The Collective is a first, important step, and we know that our future success will involve partnering with multiple organizations to achieve deeper impact.”
Federation will recognize the winners of its annual awards:
- Abe Schwartz Young Leadership Award — Eliana Leader (Ramah Darom) and Benjamin Levy (Friends of the Israel Defense Forces).
- Gerald H. Cohen Community Development Award — Viktoria Abelson (Emory Healthcare).
- Marilyn Shubin Professional Staff Development Award — Stephanie Wyatt (Federation vice president of engagement and leadership development).
- Mary and Max London People Power Award — Eileen Snow Price (In the City Camp).
- Tikkun Olam/Community Impact Award — Robin Chanin (Global Growers).
The event will be held at Congregation B’nai Torah, 700 Mount Vernon Highway, Sandy Springs, starting with a dessert and cocktail reception at 7 p.m. Get tickets at jewishatlanta.org/collective.
