Hibbard to Perform at MJCCA

Grammy award winning saxophonist and composer Mace Hibbard is coming to the MJCCA with his Jazz quintet, June 14 at 7:00 p.m. Ticket Prices: $10 – $15 at www.atlantajcc.org/boxoffice.

Hibbard, who is a multi-instrumentalist and also plays the flute, piano and clarinet brings his own brand of Jazz to the MJCCA’s Morris & Rae Frank Theatre to close out the second season of Jazz at the JCC. Hibbard’s career spans more than two decades and he has performed on stage with Kenny Rogers, The Derek Trucks Band, The Four Tops and The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra.

“To bring our second season of Jazz at the JCC to a close, Mace brings his top notch local skills to the JCC stage,” said MJCCA Director of Arts & Culture Brian Kimmel. “As a top notch educator and musician, Mace fits in to our mission to bring intown arts to a Dunwoody audience.”

The Mace Hibbard Quintet is based in Atlanta and has been playing together since 2005. The current lineup features Hibbard, Melvin Jones on Trumpet, bassist Marc Miller, Louis Heriveaux on Piano and drummer Marlon Patton. The group has performed multiple times at the Atlanta Jazz Festival and plays regular shows at Churchill Grounds Jazz Club downtown and The Velvet Note in Alpharetta.

“It’s always a pleasure to get to play and we’re looking forward to playing at the JCC,” said Hibbard. “We’re going to put on our show of mostly original compositions and arrangements of old standards.”
